January Student of the Month 01.30.2013

This is what came home in Madison's folder from school on Tuesday:

Congratulations!  Shhh...It's a surprise!!!  Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s) of Madison Morgan, You are invited to attend our monthly Award Assembly.  Your child will be receiving an award at our award assembly which will be on Thursday, January 31 at 1:00 pm.  It will be held in the Junior High Auditorium.  Hope to see you there!!!  Thanks, Mrs. Stork
I still didn't know what the award was for, but I was excited.  Nate wasn't able to make it, so I recorded it.  Here it is:

She was beaming from ear to ear!  I was one proud mama!

Each Kindergarten teacher chooses one child from their class to receive the Student of the Month Award.  Madison has 22 children in her class!  I think that says a lot.

Her certificate
Nate and I are so proud of Madison.  She is such a good girl.

Snow Sillies 01.2013

We got a lot of snow!  The girls said they were going to go outside and play in it.  Madison got Katelynn and herself all bundled up.  I decided to check on them and had to snap some pictures.

Nate got the girls their own mini-shovels.
Katelynn used her hands instead of the shovel.

The girls came in shortly after taking the pictures and when Katelynn walked in she said two things, "I aw wet!" (I all wet!) and "I so siwy!" (I so silly!).  Hence the title.  They are such silly snow angels.

Delayed Days 1.2013

Last week it was so cold here, the schools had two-hour delayed start days until it was warm enough for the children to come to school!  I really enjoyed having Madison home for and extra two hours in the morning!  I wasn't rushed to get her ready.  I could actually get ready before 10:00!  We read books, got her all fancied up, and no tardy tickets for her.  This is what Madison looks like when we had our delayed days.

Isn't she just so beautiful and happy looking?  She is always beautiful, but this morning she didn't have any worries about forgetting something or getting a tardy ticket!  I love this amazingly, gorgeous little girl!

Chicago's Children's Museum 1.2013

This is how we roll on Saturdays:

Entry sign to the Children's Museum
The first thing you see when you walk in is a HUGE ship!  The kids (4+ years old) can climb up the nets to the third floor of the museum.  Madison wanted to do this several times.
Pint-Sized Paleontologists
Digging for Dinos

Next, the Garden Room!  First we must see how much Madison has grown!
Dad was taking too many pictures!  Can you tell by her face?  This girl just wanted to go play.
After the Garden Room, we went to the Job Area.  The kids could change the tires and wipe the windshield of the car.

"Workin' at the Car Washin'"

Next to the grocery area, was this tube under a play house and you could crawl in to be a plumber!
Katelynn was right at home in the grocery store!  Notice the tongue?  She is concentrating so hard!
Off to the Woodland Area!  The girls tried climbing

Even Katelynn...

Canoeing

I think the Water Works Wonderland was their favorite!  It has buckets hanging from the ceiling that you use different pulleys to dump them and levers to put them in the water to fill them up!  Thanks to the rain jackets, the girls were very dry!

Katelynn was content filling up her bucket with a mini boat for a good 15-20 minutes.

Rock Wall Painting (best part is it comes off when it drys! :)  No Mr. Clean Scrubbing Pads for these walls.)

Katelynn loved painting on the walls!

I thought the grandparents would appreciate this!  The top one says, 'Hi poppy' and the bottom says, 'nana'!

Daddy liked this area, as well as the girls.  Lots of wood with holes+bolts & nuts=creative building!

Digging the goggles!
No, not napping just tightening a bolt!  She had to get the right angle to see it.

Taking a break from building to look out at the bay!

I think the goggles are a little big!

We have an artist on our hands!  Do you see the resemblance?

Those are eyelashes, not hair sticking up on top!  So cute and she did it all by herself.
Last, the firehouse!  I just love my fire woman and Dainty Dalmatian!

I love the memories we are able to make on our fun little trips!  Well, not really little, but definitely fun!  After the museum, we went to the stained glass exhibit, and ate dinner at Bubba Gumps!  YUM!  Needless to say, our girls were out like a light bulb while on our way home and once we got home and into bed.

Great Grocery Shopping 01.2013

Our favorite place to go grocery shopping: Meijer!  Why?  Because of the $.01 (Penny) Pony Ride!  The girls get to take a three minute horse ride for a penny if they have been good in the store!  This is their favorite part of shopping and it actually helps to keep them in line while I shop so we can be faster than three hours in a store.

I love my cowgirls!

My Fashionista! 01.2013

Madison reminds me of Fancy Nancy!  This is what she came in wearing the other morning before school.  Yes, she is wearing two vests; one off white & the top one hot pink.

What a funny girl!  I love her sense of style.

The Tooth Fairy 01.2013

Madison had a loose tooth for about a week before my parents came to visit.  My dad kept trying to ask Madison if he could pull it, and even bribed her that if he pulled it out, he would double whatever the tooth fairy gave her for her first tooth!  I guess that tooth just wasn't ready.  The day after my parents left, Madison lost her first tooth (Jan 8th)!  She didn't cry or scream; even when she saw all the blood.  She lost her second tooth just two nights ago (Jan 28th).  She is two dollars richer that she was at the beginning of this month.  Currently, she has two more loose teeth, and the bottom two permanent teeth are quickly coming in!  She is adorable without her two little teeth.

Cleaning up after pulling her tooth!

1 down and a whole mouthful to go!  What a happy little girl!

There are the two teeth quickly coming in!  That other front tooth is extremely loose!

Tooth #2

What cute little teeth!!!
So excited for her and how brave she is!  I know I HATED when I had a loose tooth.  I am glad that she isn't like me!

Madison's 6th Birthday 9.2012

Time flies by so fast when you are having fun, and the last six years have been TONS of fun.  My little girl is six years old.  I really tried to make this day as special as possible for her since we aren't near any family.  I think she still gave the day a 10 out of 10!  First her class had a birthday party for her.  I made cupcakes and she put the sprinkles on.

Her Birthday Crown

Eating cupcakes (yes that is the jar of sprinkles in Katelynn's hand, and yes, she did eat them all, OUT OF THE JAR)

Madison was so sweet and kept sharing her cupcake with Katelynn.

The class sang Happy Birthday with Alvin & The Chipmunks, then Tinkerbell had a special birthday wish for her too!

Then they listened and sang "BINGO"

The birthday girl!
Then Madison decided she wanted Cracker Barrel for dinner.  The waitress and waiters sang Happy Birthday to her and she got a VERY CHOCOLATEY piece of cake!

Katelynn enjoying her cake!

Her surprise face!  It comes out at the oddest times.

After dinner we came home and had even more cake!

Since she was a baby, Nate and I decided that on her sixth birthday she could get her ears pierced if she wanted.  She did and she was brave, didn't cry, and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES them!

I think she looks gorgeous with her new earrings.

Close-up!
Happy Birthday Sweet Miss Madison!  We love you.
